About ID

"Leadership is not magnetic personality — that can just as well be a glib tongue. It is not 'making friends and influencing people' - that is flattery. Leadership is lifting a person's vision to high sights, the raising of a person's performance to a higher standard, the building of a personality beyond its normal limitations."
- Peter F. Drucker

What is Intentional Development (ID)?

ID is a program designed around the specific shape of an individual and organisation. The more closely any development and training process is to the individual’s personality, skill set, personal context, and organisational role, the more effective it will be. Unlike many other programs, ID is not a “buy-off-the-shelf” set of materials, nor is it a “one size fits all” approach. It considers every aspect of the individual and organisation by spending time diagnosing and then working with the client to check the diagnostic hypothesis before a set of developmental goals and learning tools are designed and implemented. Due to the very personal and intentional focus of ID, it is limited to a small number of participants.

What are the benefits of ID?

ID utilises the world’s best practices and most current thinking in the application of diagnostic tools and development processes for individuals and organisations. The outcome of ID is to raise a person’s performance and quality of life to a higher standard – building the skills, character and values of an individual and organisation beyond their current levels. ID has a highly gifted and experienced team who are able to facilitate the identification and development of the very best that is within both individuals and organisations.

Who is ID designed for?

ID is suited to individuals and organisations who:
1. Are willing to spend consistent time reviewing and reflecting on why they do what they do
2. Are willing to engage in asking the hard questions of themselves
3. Have the intellectual ability and personal commitment to work on the implications that arise from their insights

In short, ID is for high level learners wanting to lead more effectively.
“Executives who do not learn and do not promote learning within their organizations end up managing their organizations rather than leading them.” - Dr Lois Zachary, Leadership Consultant to
Fortune 100 Companies.

Entry into the ID program is determined through an application process involving an assessment of an individual’s life experience, level of responsibility within the organisation they work and the ability to engage in a broad range of thought and active processes. Due to the intensive nature of the ID program, not all applications can be accepted.

What will Intentional Development deliver?

Those who commit their time and resources to the processes involved in the ID program will see marked improvements in their ability to positively impact others. The results will come through the development of better ways of learning and application of learning. This development will be measured, not just assumed.
"The ultimate competitive advantage lies in an organisation’s ability to learn and rapidly transform that learning into action" - Egon Zehnder International, 'Focus: Value Management', January 1997

How long and in what format is the ID Program?

The duration of all ID programs is 12 months and the format for ID will depend on the program selected.
